EUFSD Superintendent Update- March 31, 2020

A Special Message From The Elmsford Union Free School District

Greetings EUFSD family,

I hope my email finds you well during this challenging time!

During these days, I am constantly reminded of the widespread effects of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the unfortunate experiences and loss of loved ones for some of our EUFSD families. Please know that we are here to support all of our families, especially those who have been impacted by the novel coronavirus. These are challenging days for everyone and we are mindful of our students and the adjustments they have been forced to make.

On Friday, I sent a communication regarding the upcoming spring recess. Over the weekend, we were provided further guidance about Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order that states

School districts must continue plans for alternative instructional options, distribution and availability of meals, and child care, with an emphasis on serving children of essential workers, and continue to first use any vacation or snow days remaining.

Under the new Executive Order, we are required to continue instruction over the spring recess. We recognize that this is a challenging time for everyone and many were looking forward to the upcoming break; however, we also acknowledge that for many of our students and families, it is important to have a daily routine. In the upcoming days, our teachers will be communicating the learning activities for next week. We will also continue to provide meals through our “Grab & Go” distribution daily (Monday through Friday) from 8:00AM to 11:00AM in the AHHS cafeteria.

We also recognize that for many families, there are religious holidays coming up and you may be observing on those days. Our teachers will be flexible with assignments and due dates, with the holidays in mind.

On behalf of the Board of Education and District, we are grateful for your partnership, which includes our entire school community, as we work through this challenging time. Also, we greatly appreciate your understanding as we adjust to the changes in the upcoming days.

Yours truly,

Dr. Marc Baiocco, Superintendent of Schools
