Mayor's Biography

Mayor Robert Williams (Bob) is a long time Elmsford resident committed to making the Village of Elmsford a great place to live, work, attend school and raise a family. He knows the importance of safe neighborhoods, low taxes, quality services and making Elmsford desirable to current and future residents and businesses. Bob works hard each day to make sure these goals are achieved and addressing individual problems and concerns.

Bob loves working with his colleagues on the Village Board. He enjoys all the great projects that they have completed together. He takes pride in working with the Trustees to do the people’s business and putting their interests first.

Before becoming Mayor in 2003, Bob served ten years from 1990 until 2000 as a Village Trustee. During that time, he worked to improve the Village on all levels. He was a partner in the successful economic development efforts to attract new business to revitalize blighted areas while working to maintain the charismatic charm of the Village. He is also credited with founding the Village’s Successful Award Winning Recycling Program which is still in use today.

Bob maintains deep roots in the community. His grandparents lived in Elmsford and his mother, Kathleen (Earley) Williams was born and raised in the Village. His father the late Walter (Willie) Williams was a former owner of Brookfield Metal Co. in Elmsford where Bob had been a lifetime employee. Bob purchased scrap metal at Brookfield in the Non Ferrous Department. He retired in June of 2018 after 52 years with the company.

In 1978 Bob graduated from Valhalla High School, receiving the Hall Scholarship for Volunteerism which recognized the various activities that he participated in while in High School. After graduation he attended Westchester Community College studying Business Administration. In 1998 Bob was honored to deliver the keynote address at his alma mater during the Valhalla High School Graduation Ceremony.

Since 1982 Bob has dedicated his time as an Auxiliary Police Officer (Police Constable). He began in Greenburgh rising to the rank of Lieutenant and transferring to the Elmsford Constables in 1987. He rose to rank of Sergeant very quickly and now serves as the Chief of the Constables Department. He enjoys volunteering his time to give back to the community.

Mayor Bob and his wife Debra and daughter Lauren enjoy calling Elmsford their home.
