EUFSD Superintendent Update- March 27, 2020

A Special Message From The Elmsford Union Free School District

I hope my email finds you well during this challenging time!

In Governor Cuomo’s press briefing earlier today, he indicated that schools will be closed for another two weeks. Schools will now be closed until at least April 15th to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Based on the current announcement extending school closures, the district will begin spring recess from Monday, April 6th through Monday, April 13th. There will be no work assigned during the days of spring recess. Since the Executive Order will be extended, this will allow us to count our distance learning in our 180-day requirement.

Although the projection models for Westchester County are showing a slowing of the number of cases coming into hospitals. As he said, “although this is almost too good to be true,” social distancing and the essential worker rules appear to be working to reduce the density and “flatten the curve” of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). With that said, we know that the number of cases continues to grow.

We appreciate your patience and understanding during this uncertain and challenging time. This partnership defines our Elmsford School District and I thank you for all that you are doing.

Yours truly,

Dr. Marc Baiocco, Superintendent of Schools
