Community Survey on Public and Law Enforcement

On June 12th, 2020 Governor Cuomo issued Executive Order 203 – New York State Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative.  The order requires:

“Each local government entity which has a police agency operating with police officers as defined under 1.20 of the  criminal procedure law must perform a comprehensive review of current police force deployments, strategies, policies, procedures and practices for the purposes of addressing particular needs of the communities served by such police agency and promote community engagement to foster trust, fairness, and legitimacy, and to address any racial bias and disproportionate policing of communities of color.”

The Village will be looking to its constituents to provide insight and become part of the process, thereby assisting the Village in creating a plan.  The following is a survey created to help understand what improvements may be made and to help guide the Police Department’s evolution in its operations.

Please review the survey below and indicate your response in the appropriate location.  Feel free to skip anything you are not comfortable with or don’t have an answer for, but please do answer as many questions as possible as this will only help us to be a better department for you. The “Community Survey on Public Safety and Law Enforcement” was developed by the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) with the support of ICF International and law enforcement experts.
